The glass section of the washing machine becomes at least warm if not hot during a hot water wash. You can feel the glass area with your hand when the procedure is going on to see if it is warm. If the glass section remains cold to your touch it definitely indicates a faulty heating element. Another sign of a faulty heating element is the non stopping wash process. Some times the washer refuses to go to the next cycle and continues the wash cycle till you stop it. This happens when the water does not acquire the pre set temperature.
If your washing machine blows a fuse or circuit breaker within a few minutes of turning it on, this could be many things and would need further testing but one of the things that could be causing the fuse to blow is a faulty water heater element.If your wash is not coming out as clean as it used to, this again could be a indicator of a faulty element as the clothes could be washing in cold water.
At times you may feel your laundry is not coming out as clean as it used to be, then also you can doubt the possibility of an error in the heating element. Most probably the clothes might not be getting hot water and consequently they might be getting washed in cold water!
During ‘on’ time of spin direction timer IC2, the output of negative- edge triggerd JK flip-flop at pin 2 goes low to energise relay RL2 and washing machine motor rotates in one direction. During the off time of IC2, the output of N1 goes high again to de-energise relay RL1, which cuts off the mains supply to RL2 and the monitor stop rotating. Floating point trouble may occur at trigger pin 2 of IC1. Resister R8 over comes this problem by holding pin 2 high.
