Dishwashers use pressure switches that are similar to those used in washing machines. However, instead of having one switching point, they have multiple levels. For example, a two-position switch may switch at 10cm and 15cm of water, while a three-position switch may trip at 15cm, 25cm and 35cm of water.
The master timer is realised with monostable IC 555 (IC1) and its ‘on’ time is decided by the resistance of 1-mega-ohm potmeter VR. A 47-kilo-ohm resistor is added in series so that even when the VR knob is in zero resistance position, the net series resistance is not zero.
A defective water heater element prevents the water from heating in a washing machine. Some hints are provided in this content to check whether you have an out of order heating element in your washer. There are ways to make sure if you have a water heater element in your washing machine, which is not working. If the fuse or circuit breaker blows within a few minutes of turning on your washing machine, there is a chance the fault is with the systems heating element.
If it does not show a reading it means the heating element is faulty. A professional make use of the ohmmeter to read across both terminals once more and the earth terminal on the element. Here however, a positive reading means a faulty heating element while a negative reading mean no fault with the heating element. This is not a job for the average person. If you are not well versed with electronics don't even consider experimenting.
